Pete Mac back in the studio from Sept. 2013 right into 2014 recording some new tracks at Wavefield Recording Studios, Bantry West Cork with engineer, producer and musician Brian Casey Music on the desk. These tracks will ultimately be part of the 4th official Paradox album due out late 2014. Brother/Drummer Mike Mac joined Pete in the studio for a session on May 29th 2014 after dropping back from his Canadian travels. We are happy to be part of the upcoming Sir Henry's exhibition which runs from July 9 to September 27 at @ UCC College Cork For anyone who doesn't know Sir Henry's in Cork City is probably the most remembered Irish venue which opened in 1978 and closed it's doors in 2003. One of the venues biggest claim to fame was on August 20, 1991, when Sonic Youth opened their European tour with Nirvana. Some scenes were featured in the documentary 1991: The Year Punk Broke. Paradox were lucky enough to play Sir Henry's in 2001 as part of the longest running Alternative club in Cork Freakscene. Well worth checking out this exhibition in UCC if anyone is in Cork over the next few months. Here's the event page - https://www.facebook.com/events/1395410257350528/

We've been playing a lot of shows this month for the 20th Anniversary of Kurt Cobain. However around this time 12 years ago (April 5th 2002 to be exact) Layne Staley of Alice in Chains also passed away. Alice in Chains have always been a huge influence on us as a band and Layne's death was tragic to say the least. That year the Grammy's failed to mention him in artists that died that year. I think this says a lot of the music industry sadly at this time. Layne was a talented, misunderstood artist with a huge voice and he will never be forgotten.

Just a quick note to wish everyone a happy new year. Thanks as always for your continued support throughout 2013. This year has been a busy year for the band. The Mr. Bureaucracy music video picked up 3 nominations this year at the Berlin Music Video Awards back in April, The Portobello Film Festival in London last September and the Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival last October. Paradox have also been back on the live circuit this year playing festivals in Dublin as well as various shows in their home town of Cork with fellow rockers Screenreader. The band also supported Irish Grunge legends Kerbdog last October. Paradox drummer Mike Mac is currently overseas so we'd like to thank drummer Sean Conway for jumping behind the kit for the shows this year! Lot's of fun.

Pete has been working together with a group called The New Alternative, an online group that has been gathering together active alternative and independent bands that we feel simply need to be heard. A Free compilation album titled - The New Alternative - Volume 1 can be downloaded FOR FREE directly on bandcamp -
http://thenewalternative.bandcamp.com/album/the-new-alternative-volume-1
Volume 2 is in the works and hopefully should be out early in the new year.

Pete Mac has also been working on new material with some tracks already recorded at a studio in West Cork. No plans as of yet to release anything but plenty of new music in the pipeline. 2014 will tell more :)
Until then here's a new year message from Nirvana :) -

Thanks again everyone we wouldn't be still doing this without your support.

For those who missed it we joined forces on stage and opened with Nirvana's Breed with Brian from Screenreader playing second guitar and bass player Dave playing second bass.. Yes two bass players on stage. It was awesome! Next time we might try two drummers who knows. More pics and a live video thanks to Sean Conway coming soon..

Screenreader ::

Cork band Screenreader came into being with the release of their debut album “Disconnect the Dots” in January 2012. Burning a trail from start to finish with mechanical samples, high-impact dynamics and fuzzed up electronic textures, the album has received high praise from critics as well as a quickly growing fan base, resulting in consistent national radio airplay from the likes of 2fm’s Dave Fanning and Dan Hegarty, along with airplay from regional and local radio stations.The band also played a slot at the Indiependence festival in 2012.

2013 has seen Screenreader record a live session for 2FM as well as hitting the road to play live as often as possible. The band will also be following up their 2012 debut album with further recordings in the coming year to capture what they’ve discovered about themselves as a band while working.
